CARMEL, Ind. – Oct. 29, 2026 – Baker Hill, a leading provider of lending technology for banks and credit unions, today announced it has achieved ISO/IEC 42001:2023 certification, the world's first international standard for Artificial Intelligence Management Systems (AIMS). The achievement builds on Baker Hill's established AI governance program and its ongoing approach to managing AI risk, oversight, accountability, and continual improvement. Following an independent audit by Schellman, an ANAB-accredited ISO/IEC 42001 certification body, Baker Hill's AIMS was certified as meeting the standard's requirements for responsible AI governance, risk management, and oversight.

As banks and credit unions adopt AI to speed underwriting, strengthen credit decisions, and improve the borrower experience, regulators and customers expect those tools to be transparent, secure, and well governed. The certification shows that Baker Hill meets that bar, with an independently audited framework behind it.

“Financial institutions trust Baker Hill with some of their most important decisions, and AI only earns a place in that work if it is built and managed responsibly,” said Andy Ivankovich, Chairman and CEO of Baker Hill. “This certification is independent proof that our AI practices are not just principles on a page. They are disciplined, repeatable, and audited, and our clients can rely on them.”

Through ISO/IEC 42001:2023, the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) set requirements for building, running, and continually improving an AI management system. The certification addresses areas including AI risk and impact assessment, transparency, accountability, data quality, third-party oversight, and ethical use across the AI lifecycle.

Baker Hill's certification covers a company-wide AI management system, including Baker Hill UN/FY, Baker Hill's loan origination system, combining digital small business lending, deposit account opening, and AI-driven insights. Getting there meant an independent audit of Baker Hill's policies, controls, and day-to-day practices. Baker Hill built its AI management system on its existing information security management program, completed a Schellman readiness assessment and an internal audit to identify and close gaps, and then passed Schellman's two-stage certification audit (Stage 1 and Stage 2).

For Baker Hill clients, the certification means the AI-enabled capabilities in Baker Hill UN/FY are backed by documented governance, defined accountability, and ongoing risk monitoring, which helps them meet the growing expectations of examiners, auditors, and boards.

“ Our AI management system is part of how we operate, not a program we created to pass an audit,” said Zach Miller, Chief Information Security Officer of Baker Hill. “We built it on the same disciplined management-system approach we use for information security, with defined accountability, risk assessment, monitoring, internal audit, and continual improvement. Certification gives our clients independent assurance that those practices are established, repeatable, and subject to ongoing review”

Baker Hill's certification was completed by Schellman, an ANAB-accredited ISO/IEC 42001 certification body. Schellman is a leading provider of attestation and compliance services and a licensed CPA firm.
